Trump Slammed Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show — And A High-Profile Friend ‘Couldn’t Disagree More’

Piers Morgan and President Donald Trump have a major difference of opinion on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime performance. On Monday, Morgan came to Bad Bunny’s defense not long after Trump shared a rambling critique of the halftime show on his Truth Social platform. “Couldn’t disagree more, Mr President. I absolutely loved Bad Bunny’s halftime show,” the British TV host and former CNN anchor wrote on X alongside a screenshot of Trump’s post. “Amazing (best in Super Bowl history?) theatre/choreography, great energy, superbly confident performance, and a very welcome unifying message.” He went on to note: “Oh, and Spanish is 1st language for 50m+ Americans!” Couldn’t disagree more, Mr President. A six-time Grammy winner, Bad Bunny has been an outspoken critic of Trump’s crackdown on immigration. He became the subject of conservative ridicule last year, after confirming he’d skip U.S. venues on his Debí Tirar Más Fotos Tour over concerns that fans would be targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. Turning Point USA, the right-wing political group founded by slain activist Charlie Kirk, responded to the NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny as its 2026 halftime headliner by organizing an alternative “All-American Halftime Show.” That MAGA-themed show, also held Sunday, was panned by critics and featured a performance by Kid Rock, who was widely accused of lip-syncing. As for Trump, it seems he didn’t bother to tune in. Morgan has been aligned with Trump for years, having first connected with the future U.S. president after winning “The Celebrity Apprentice” in 2008. As Morgan shared on X, however, he’s expressed views that have been at odds with Trump on several occasions, most notably in 2021, when he criticized the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Still, he’s continued to invite far-right figures like Nick Fuentes and Candace Owens to appear on his show, “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” Last week, he interviewed filmmaker Brett Ratner, who directed the controversial new documentary “Melania” about first lady Melania Trump.
