Peanut butter sold in 40 states, including Wisconsin, recalled for possible plastic contamination

More than 20,000 peanut butter products sold in Wisconsin and 39 other states are being recalled for possible plastic contamination. The affected products were produced by Ventura Foods and sold under multiple brands, according to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration notice. The recall was initiated in April 2025 after blue plastic was found in a filter during production, but the FDA classified it as a Class II recall Feb. 12. The classifications mean use of or exposure to a recalled product could cause "temporary or medically reversible" adverse health effects, according to the agency. Here's what Wisconsin shoppers should know about the recall. The following peanut butter products were named in the recall: Creamy peanut butter packets in 0.5-ounce cups, 0.75-ounce cups and 1.12-ounce packs Twin packs combining creamy peanut butter and strawberry jam in 1.12-ounce cups and 1-ounce cups Twin packs combining creamy peanut butter and grape jelly in 1.12-ounce and 1-ounce cups According to the FDA notice, affected products were sold by brands such as US Foods, DYMA Brands, Sysco House Recipe and Gordon Food Service. In addition to Wisconsin, the recalled peanut butter products were sold in 39 states, including neighboring Illinois and Minnesota.
