Gabrielle Union once revealed that “chunks” of her hair “came off on a styling tool” after “totally unqualified” stylists attempted to work with her hair type. As a Celebrity Reporter, I cover everything from fashion and award shows to TV, film, and cultural conversations. “It’s a real disservice to actors of color who are effectively doing someone else’s job and not getting paid for it,” she added. “There’s nothing [more] dehumanizing than sitting in a hair and makeup chair and watching your costars go through the works and leave, and you’re still there because someone’s moving very slowly because they’re very scared. It’s [you] feeling like a problem to be solved.” One time I literally rolled out of bed and showed up to set and the hairstylist looked at my hair and said “it’s great the way it is!” and walked away. I literally appeared on camera with bed head. Since then I’ve been styling my own hair 🙄
