Terry Black's Barbecue has been working on expanding into San Antonio for a few years, and while its incoming restaurant has already broken ground, it appears that the Austin-based barbecue chain's plans also include a luxurious spa experience.

It's probably safe to say that a spa day at Terry Black's is out of the question, but Black Family Hospitality is indeed cooking up a bathhouse in an adjacent space next to the San Antonio restaurant, according to a construction project recently filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

The filing provided the following details about the bathhouse concept: "The Bathhouse includes two hot spas, two cold spas, two cold plunges, a large linear spa and a salt float. There will also be a steam room, cold mist room, massage rooms and a high-end locker room with full spa amenities."

The facility name listed on the TDLR filing is "The Depths," which is presumably the working name of the bathhouse. It will cost upwards of $8 million to install, according to the filing.

Terry Black's Barbecue broke ground on its first San Antonio restaurant in 2025, with a larger plan to install a hotel and a parking garage in the vicinity. The bathhouse may be a part of that proposed hotel, so MySA reached out to the Black Family Hospitality to confirm more details about the project. We did not receive an immediate response, but we will update this story as more develops.

San Antonio isn't the only city Terry Black's is eyeing for expansion, as the barbecue chain plans to bring restaurants to New Braunfels and even to Tennessee.
