PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Two teenagers appeared in Cowlitz County court Friday after being arrested at Mark Morris High School in connection to a sexual abuse investigation involving the school’s basketball team. The teens, ages 17 and 16, are accused of pulling junior varsity players into the varsity team locker room and sexually assaulting them on several occasions between November 2025 and January 2026. Details of the assaults are graphic. The court documents share incidents of varsity players shoving penises into faces, forcing fingers into rectums, and one incident in which a group of varsity players allegedly took a can of Bio-Freeze and sprayed it into a player’s rectum. “The feeling of not being able to do anything made me so mad,” a student reportedly said. In total, court documents note four victims — ages 14, 14, 16, and 17 — whose names have not been released to the public. Gov. Both boys were given a $15,000 bond and ordered to not contact the alleged victims. Some parents are now calling for more transparency from the school district. “I found out on Facebook and found out that these things were happening, but no one really knew,” said Chrystal Alexander, a parent of a Mark Morris High School student. “So I think the principal should have been more forward, like, they’re hiding the information from the parents.” On Thursday, Longview Public Schools Superintendent Karen L. Cloninger released a statement calling the allegations “deeply troubling and inconsistent with what our school district stands for.” “We remain committed to cooperating with the law enforcement investigation. Once the law enforcement investigation is complete, and so the findings can inform our next steps, the district will engage an independent third-party investigator to review district practices related to our athletics program, including student supervision and staff training. This step reflects our commitment to accountability and to examining our practices carefully and thoroughly.” A student told officers he had been interviewed by Mark Morris staff about the assaults two weeks before making his report. It is not clear whether the remaining four students named in the investigation are attending classes. KOIN 6 News has reached out to Longview Public Schools for comment.
