AUSTIN (KXAN) — Southwest Airlines is continuing its expansion efforts at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, with four new nonstop routes planned for October. Year-round service to Memphis is set to begin Oct. 1, with flights scheduled to operate six days a week. Seasonal service to Destin, Florida, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Santa Rosa, California, is set to begin Oct. 3. The AUS-Memphis route is currently served by Delta Air Lines, while Allegiant Air flies the AUS-Knoxville route. Destin and Santa Rosa are both new nonstops for the airport. Delta previously announced plans to fly from Austin to Destin beginning in June, but later canceled that route in favor of service to Asheville, North Carolina. “We are continuing to add more Southwest service for our customers in the places where we’re already strong,” Adam Decaire, Southwest’s senior vice president of network planning, said. “We will meet our Customers where they are with an enhanced product that complements our best-in-class reliability and service.” The new routes are in addition to five others set to begin in March and June. Southwest previously announced plans to open a crew base at AUS in March, bringing an estimated 2,000 jobs to the city. The airline has been announced as the anchor tenant in AUS’s planned Concourse B, a new terminal slated to be completed around 2030. Southwest is already the largest airline operating at AUS in terms of passenger traffic, accounting for 41% of all passengers in 2025. Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
