BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Gov. Jeff Landry requests that the U.S. Department of Education investigate all public higher education institutions in Louisiana.

The U.S. DOE’s Office for Civil Rights opened an investigation earlier this month into the Louisiana Board of Regents over concerns about possible race-based priorities in its budget. On Monday, Landry requested an expansion of the investigation in a letter to Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Richey.

“Let me be clear: Louisiana is done with woke DEI policies. Discrimination against ANY student will not be tolerated. This issue began under the previous administration, and we are fixing it. That is why, I’ve formally requested that the investigation be expanded to EVERY public higher education institution in Louisiana. If there are violations of federal law anywhere in our system, we want them corrected.”
