Gavin Newsom Obliterates Fox News For ‘Weaponizing’ His SAT Comments While Ignoring Trump’s Offensive Remarks

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) pulled an Uno reverse on Fox News and MAGA supporters after they accused him of being racist over a remark he made about his low SAT score while promoting his new book in Atlanta on Sunday. After Fox News personalities claimed he made “offensive” remarks to a “Black audience” and Fox News host Sean Hannity posted a misleading, edited clip of Newsom’s talk on X, the governor directly called out Hannity over the “fake fucking outrage.” In the clip posted by Hannity, Newsom told the event’s moderator, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens (D), “I’m not, you know, I’m not trying to impress you. I’m just trying to impress upon you, I’m like you. I’m no better than you. I’m a 960 SAT guy. And you know, I’m not trying to offend anyone [and] act ‘all there’ if you got 940.” However, in the full video of Newsom’s appearance, which Hannity omitted, the politician went on to explain that he hasn’t “overcome dyslexia” and he’s still “living with it.” Appearing on Wednesday’s edition of MS NOW’s “The Briefing with Jen Psaki,” the Democratic governor argued that his accusers “have been countenancing racism in their party for decades” and never acknowledged that he made similar comments in the past to slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk. “They didn’t say it when I talked to Charlie Kirk and said the exact same thing, or the dozens and dozens of other occasions where I’ve said exactly the same thing,” he said. “It was a hell of a statement, particularly for people that have been countenancing racism in their party for decades.” Directly calling out Hannity and the other Fox News hosts, he obliterated them for not saying “one word of condemnation” about the “racist videos that were put out about [former first lady] Michelle Obama and [former president] Barack Obama.” Earlier this month, President Donald Trump posted a video of the Obamas as monkeys in a jungle and deleted it later after facing backlash from both Republicans and Democrats who slammed the video as racist. Newsom then laid into the Fox News hosts for never having reprimanded Trump over his repeated offensive comments and actions, including making disparaging remarks about “shithole countries.” “Not a word said … [instead they] were offended by someone who writes a book about learning disabilities and struggles academically, and then expresses them in a mixed audience, and somehow accuses that person of patronizing, or somehow demeaning or being racist himself.” Newsom added: “That’s a hell of a statement of the weaponization and the propaganda — the network, this machine that these folks have. And I’ll tell you, forget me, put anyone else, this is what we’re up against in this country.” Hannity fired back at Newsom’s remarks in an X post on Thursday. “@GavinNewsom Let’s call you out by name. You were one of Joe Biden’s biggest propagandists during his campaign. You were silent about his cognitive decline even after his disastrous debate. Remember what you texted me Gavin??? Then You went on national TV and flat out lied for him,” the Fox News host wrote. Hannity accused the governor of being “silent as [Biden] allowed millions of unvetted illegals into the country, including known terrorists, murderers, rapists, child molesters, cartel members, gang members, drug dealers and other violent criminals.” “You even offered them sanctuary status and benefits in your bankrupt state of California. American families have suffered greatly Gavin. You were an enabler. You owe victims families an apology,” he continued. Wrapping up his response, Hannity added, “You supported a candidate (Joe Biden) who partnered with a former Klansman Robert Byrd and together they fought to stop the integration of public schools. Are you proud of yourself? Mr No Show Governor you are repulsive. Save me your phony lectures and Feigned outrage.” Elsewhere in the interview, Newsom argued that “conventional politics no longer applies” in Trump’s second administration. “The Right is ruthless. They’re shapeshifting the conversation … We’re consistently on our heels. [Democrats have] got to stay on our toes, we have to stay vigilant. This is just a reminder of that.” Watch Newsom’s interview below. Skip to the 4:38 mark to hear his remarks.
