The San Angelo Police Department released the name Wednesday of a man who died Jan. 12 in connection with a SWAT standoff related to a family violence situation.

The SAPD said Jayme Boulware, 42, was the man who died.

San Angelo police Chief Travis Griffith said in a Jan. 12 press conference that the name was not to be released as of yet due to the nature of the incident and the suspect's threats to household members and law enforcement.

On Jan. 12, the SAPD became aware of an incident in the 3500 block of Shady Hill Drive involving a domestic-related threat, according to a police news release.

"The suspect had allegedly threatened to murder his spouse and then take his own life," the release stated. "The spouse was able to safely leave the residence without injury."

Due to Boulware’s history of escalating behavior and information obtained from related investigations, officers secured the area while an arrest warrant was obtained, the media release said.

An arrest warrant was issued, and the department's negotiations team began attempting to communicate with him, police said in the media release.

"During negotiations, gunshots were heard inside the residence," the release stated. "The SWAT Team then made entry into the home, where the suspect was located suffering from self-inflicted injuries caused by a firearm."

He was transported to Shannon Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased, the release stated.
