"F*** The cat! Get Outta there! Get out!"

Spoiler Warning: While these are not new films, this post does contain spoilers, so skip at your discretion!

"Opening night. When Ellie turns Grant's head to see the dinosaurs for the first time. The entire theatre gasped."

"I was in LA at the time for opening night of Independence Day. When LA got destroyed, the theatre cheered…"

"Toby Maguire coming out of the portal in No Way Home."

"When I saw this in theatres, Andrew Garfield came through first, everyone was about to lose their shit... Then were disappointed when it was not Toby. Then Toby came through not even wearing the spider suit, and the whole theatre lost their shit."

"When Bruce Willis realises he’s a ghost I could hear the theatre gasp in unison."

"I’d say when Thor arrives at Wakanda in Infinity War and says, 'Bring me Thanos' was the loudest I’ve ever heard a theatre."

"The collective gasp and silence that followed when the snap occurred and people started disintegrating all the way to the credits was downright eerie."

"I remember when Barbosa walked down the stairs at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and everyone screamed. It was the longest wait ever for the third one to come out. Everyone was hyped that Barbosa was back and a good guy now."

"It was the original Alien, with Sigourney Weaver. The ship's crew has been decimated, set to self-destruct, and the countdown is well on its way. Weaver is collecting the stuff she'll need for the lifeboat, and suddenly she says, 'Jonesy!', which is the name of the ship's cat. She goes back for Jonesy. People in the theatre were literally screaming at her. 'FUCK THE CAT! GET OUTTA THERE! GET OUT!'"

"Samara climbing out of the TV. The entire audience gasped/shrieked/jumped (myself included)."

"People hate on Attack of the Clones, but that was most hyped I’ve ever heard the theatre during a Star Wars film. Both when Yoda pulled out his lightsaber and when dozens of Jedi charged into battle on Geonosis."

"That scene in Casino Royale where Mads Mikkelssen had Bond stripped down and sat in the chair and the first hit from the rope landed. Every single guy cringed and crossed our legs or just recoiled."

"Aragorn hopping out of the Corsair of Umbar and running onto the Docks towards Pellenor Fields. As he had already released the ghosts in the book, none expected he, Gimli and Legolas to pop out of a ship with the ghost army. All of us in the theatre oohed and ahhhed, then we all, en masse, stood and cheered."

"The reveal at the end of Saw. I watched it in theatres three times just so I could keep seeing people’s reactions. The best was the time I saw it with my sister and she screamed, 'HOLY SHIT!' at the same time the people in front of us screamed, 'AY DIOS MIO!'"

"The sex scene in Team America: World Police!! The theatre was wild!"

"I saw that in theatres with my parents. I was 13. Fucking. Mortified"

"When Katie gets pulled out of bed. Most of the movie was the most tension I felt in a theatre and not just me, but everyone else there. Anyway, during that scene, the audience was as loud and chaotic as I've ever experienced."

"(Spoiler) The decapitation scene in Hereditary. In the trailer, it seemed like the daughter was going to be the main character. It turned out... she was not. The gasp through the crowd was pretty wild, and it made me a fan of watching horror movies in the theatre."

"The scene where Cap picks up Mjolnir and starts beating up Thanos with it and bringing down lightning on him. People really lost their heads during the portals scene too. Then came the two words every comic book geek was waiting for Cap to say for years:

Also, can't forget the surprise on Thanos' face when Tony had all of the Infinity stones. The crowd erupted again. I've never been in a theatre so loud in all my years of going to theatres. It was an incredible experience."

"Jason Biggs humping a pie in the first American Pie movie. I have never heard that many people crying laughing outside of a comedy special in my life."
