Sarah J. Maas spilled on Call Her Daddy — including news of not one, but TWO new ACOTAR books! Here's everything we learned from the interview. Contributor for HuffPost Books and Editor of The Lit Drop ***Note: For anyone who hasn't read every SJM book series, there are plenty of spoilers ahead. Those viral pics of Margot Robbie and SJM having a cup of coffee in a NYC in 2024 were real. The two icons met because of Robbie's publicly professed love of SJM's books and the blonde duo quickly became friends after meeting. Maas told Cooper that meeting Barbie in real life was a very big deal for her. It was officially reported in February 2025 that an ACOTAR live-action series was no longer moving forward at Hulu, and then in March 2024, Maas appears to have coffee with Robbie, who owns the production company LuckyChap Entertainment. But Maas told Cooper she has only "just gotten" the adaptation rights back to all of her books, but added that if an adaptation does happen, she'll be deeply involved in "making it right." She still has a cutout of Orlando Bloom as the elven prince and admitted she would “piss," "shit her pants," "vomit," and even "ovulate” if she were to see Bloom today. There isn't some massive map with lines connecting every series, but she did mention "crystals all over her desk" and sometimes feels like her subconscious or some "psychic thing" guides her writing. She added she isn't ashamed of the sex scenes she writes and added, “the sex is tied to the plot,” particularly between Cassian and Nesta. This part of the interview was difficult to watch. SJM detailed her own traumatic birth story with her first child, and how the feelings of being kept in the dark, losing the autonomy and control of her birth plan, and having to undergo a rushed C-section from what sounds like a dangerously incompetent doctor not only scarred her physically, but emotionally as well. She told Alex that in the fall of 2019, she was "in such a dark place" that she needed to talk to someone and knew she needed therapy. Around this time, she started writing A Court of Silver Flames, which helped shape Nesta's journey, too. SJM explained women have confided in her that Tamlin's abusive treatment of Feyre reminded them of past relationships, and she doesn't want to erase or invalidate their experiences.
