Celebrity Says RFK Jr. And Cheryl Hines Sold Her 'The Most Toxic' Home

Comedian Chelsea Handler recently detailed the “disaster” of a home she purchased from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and actor Cheryl Hines five years ago. In a phone call with a listener who was annoyed by the Department of Health and Human Services secretary’s presence at her gym, Handler shared some “background” on her own Los Angeles abode. “I still have not lived in this house,” she explained on her “Dear Chelsea” podcast as guest Denis Leary egged her on. “That’s how fucked-up this house was, the idea that this guy is in charge of the health of our country when he didn’t even have a proper foundation at his house,” Handler said in the March 5 episode. The comedian and bestselling author said inspectors told her the home had “the most toxic environment” and that she couldn’t move in “for at least two years.” She said a few visitors even claimed the property was cursed. “I’m not exaggerating any of this,” Handler continued. “It was a disaster, and I didn’t know it going in because everything was, you know, under wraps.” The real estate transaction was initially relatively anonymous for both parties because it was conducted through trusts. “So I have my own issues with RFK Jr.,” Handler noted just in case listeners hadn’t gotten that message. The former “Chelsea Lately” TV star said the last straw was finding out that an outdoor storage unit on the property was illegal. “So now we have to remove his illegal bullshit from my property, and I’m like, how did they not find this upon the first inspection?” she said. The “I’ll Have What She’s Having” writer also shared that Hines had “the audacity” to leave behind a note saying “Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you, Chelsea.” “I’m like, ‘Yeah, how about a fucking foundation?’” Handler recalled. “That’s something you could do for me. Anyway, I’m not angry about it or anything. I’m totally over it.” According to Realtor.com, Handler purchased her home in the affluent Mandeville Canyon area in Brentwood for $5.9 million. Representatives for Kennedy and Hines did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
