Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr is asking broadcasters to air more “patriotic programming” and “pro-America” content ahead of the country’s 250th anniversary. “We’re inviting broadcasters to once again highlight the great wins of the country and to run patriotic programming,” Carr said on the New York Post’s “PodForceOne,” podcast on Wednesday. “Maybe starting off with the Pledge of Allegiance, which we used to do. More recently, Carr threatened to pull the broadcast licenses of networks for airing what he characterized as “hoaxes and news distortions.” He added the broadcasters still “have a chance now to correct course before their license renewals come up.” “It is very important to bring trust back into media, which has earned itself the label of fake news,” Carr wrote Saturday on X alongside a Truth Social post where Trump complained about a supposed “misleading headline” about the war in Iran. Trump wrote Sunday night that he was “thrilled” that Carr was considering “looking at the licenses of some of these Corrupt and Highly Unpatriotic ‘News’ Organizations. They get Billions of Dollars of FREE American Airwaves, and use it to perpetuate LIES …” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
