A Hindu organization has moved into an office building it purchased in Bridgewater and is using the space for worship and congregational gatherings. Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, known as BAPS, purchased the 66,500-square-foot building at 1130 Route 22 East for $6.15 million in November 2025 in a deal brokered by Colliers. BAPS began holding regular worship and weekly congregational gatherings in its new facility in early February, a spokesman said. “The facility is used primarily for worship, assemblies and community gatherings, as well as youth educational and cultural activities,“ said Vimal Brahmbhatt. The building, formerly occupied by Allstate Insurance, is one of four buildings in a 21-acre office park known as CenterPointe I. The group plans to make interior adjustments so the office is more suitable for its congregational uses. “These include minor interior reconfigurations, such as creating assembly and classroom areas, improving accessibility and flow and preparing appropriate worship areas,” Brahmbhatt said. “We do not anticipate major exterior changes.” BAPS bought the property to act as a satellite location for worshipers who live in that area. “The primary benefit is ease of access and reduced commute times for those who find frequent travel to larger mandirs challenging,” he said. BAPS has eight locations in North America, including its North American headquarters in Robbinsville and a facility in Edison. The Hindu temple in Robbinsville is widely regarded as the largest in the country. Its construction drew a federal probe and lawsuit involving labor trafficking allegations. The federal investigation concluded in September 2025, but a civil lawsuit, filed in May 2021, accuses BAPS of recruiting workers from marginalized castes and tribes in India and forcing them to work in inhumane conditions under the guise of religious volunteerism.
