As BuzzFeed's politics lead, my job is to do the doomscrolling for you.

(AKA the unemployment rate, cost of eggs, gas prices, inflation, the Dow Jones, whether citizens received a stimulus check, and Trump's overall approval rating.)

Note: Data on inflation is released a few weeks after each month has ended, so our reports will look at the previous month's numbers. 

The part of me that copes via dark humor can't help but wonder if perhaps unemployment may ease if voluntary military enlistments rise. 

Around this same time last year, buyers could throw a pack of ground beef in their cart for about $5.74 a pound — nearly an entire dollar less than February's $6.70 average.

...but I can't help feeling like I'm stepping onto a platform and waiting for the floor to drop under me. 

It is simply a fact that the war in Iran is affecting gas prices, and though those figures won't come in until March is over, I know from my own rubbernecking past gas stations that the numbers aren't pretty. 

The rich gettin' richer in war times. Love to see it.
