Sure, sometimes the kids do have to come first, especially for the first few years. But make sure that is a temporary situation and doesn't become the default.

And no — of course I'm not saying to ignore your kids. I'm saying that you started out as a couple, and to help you stay a couple after the kids have grown up and moved on into their adult lives, you MUST still be a healthy couple while you raise the kids."
