Expect delays on Interstate 4 this morning, April 6. According to FL511 and the Florida Highway Patrol's websites, I-4 is closed due to flooding in Osceola County and traffic is being diverted off the interstate. Here's what you should know. All east- and westbound lanes are closed at mile marker 62 — World Drive — near Kissimmee in Osceola County. The interstate has been closed in both directions for hours and remained closed as of 7:17 a.m. Monday. According to FHP and FL511, flooding on the roadway prompted officials to close the interstate at World Drive. Flooding has impacted a four-mile section of I-4, between State Road 532 (mile marker 658) to World Drive (mile marker 62), according to FL511. East- and westbound traffic on I-4 is being diverted onto World Drive. Select an alternate route to avoid delays. A stalled front was forecast to impact Central and South Florida early this week, according to the Florida Division of Emergency Management. As the front stalls across Central Florida Monday, expect afternoon showers and thunderstorms across the central and southern portions of the Florida Peninsula, which have a 35-55% chance of rain. "Enhancement in rain coverage is possible Monday night and into Tuesday across Central and South Floridaas a weak low-pressure system develops along this front and traverses across the Peninsula," the Division of Emergency Management said.
