KOCO-TV, citing local officials, reported emergency crews launched search-and-rescue operations in Garfield County after tornadoes caused major destruction, especially in the Gray Ridge neighborhood and at Vance Air Force Base.

Garfield County Sheriff Cory Rink said there were reports of people trapped inside homes. Other reports described roofs torn from buildings, homes razed to the ground and utility poles snapped.

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt said he had spoken with Enid officials and pledged state assistance.

“Please join me in praying for the Enid community, which has been severely impacted by tonight’s tornado,” Stitt posted on X. “My prayers are with everyone on Vance Air Force Base and the surrounding neighborhood.”

City officials said the Grayridge area was among the hardest hit and asked residents to avoid the neighborhood while emergency crews worked.

“Keeping roadways clear is critical so emergency crews, utility teams, and heavy equipment can safely access affected locations as quickly as possible,” the city said on Facebook.
