What do you mean somebody crashed the red carpet by hiding inside a package???

As a staff writer at BuzzFeed, I write about all things celeb and pop culture.

She continued, "I feel terrible about it. Because after listening to lots of valid criticism, I see how unfair it is to ascribe misogynistic thoughts to someone I don't know AT ALL. Like, we have never met, I have no idea the kind of day he's having or what his truth is. But most importantly, I would never intentionally contribute to a long and often violent history of the over-sexualization of Black male bodies — as well as false accusations by white women towards Black men. I'm so sorry, particularly to OBJ, who has every right to be on his cellphone. The fact is I don't know about his state of mind (I don't know a lot of things), and I shouldn't have acted like I did."

At a press conference, Met Gala attendee Cardinal Timothy Dolan said, "You may be asking, what is the cardinal archbishop of New York doing here? I asked that when I was invited several months ago. But think about it just for a moment. It's because the Church and the Catholic imagination — the theme of this exhibit — are all about three things: truth, goodness, and beauty. That's why we're into things such as art, culture, music, literature, and, yes, even fashion."

On Instagram, actor and activist Jameela Jamil summed up the criticism well, writing, "Karl Lagerfeld is the theme for the entire Met Gala next year. This man... was indeed, supremely talented, but used his platform is such a distinctly hateful way, mostly towards women, so repeatedly and up until the last years of his life, showing no remorse, offering no atonement, no apology, no help to groups he attacked... there was no explanation for his cruel outbursts...

Those groups were women who were sexually assaulted, the entire me too movement, gay couples who wanted to adopt, all fat people, specifically fat women, and some of his greatest harm was against Muslim refugees, and the disgusting way he spoke about people fleeing their homes for fear of their lives.

Why is THIS who we celebrate when there are so many AMAZING designers out there who aren't bigoted white men? What happened to everyone's principles and 'advocacy.' You don't get to stand for justice in these areas, and then attend the celebration of someone who reveled in his own public disdain for marginalized people.Sorry, but no. This isn't the 90s. We didn't fight all this shit just to throw it all away because some white guy made some pretty clothes for people's skinny faves... come on now."

She also made an important reminder: "Our culture is deeply disdainful and unsupportive of women, especially women of color and working class women (and LGBTQ+/immigrant/etc) from the bottom up — whether it's lack of childcare support or especially reserving pillory for elected women and femme people."

In 2025, the House Committee on Ethics determined that she failed to comply with the House's gifting rule by accepting a free ticket for her partner and by not paying "full fair market value" for some parts of her outfit.

In a statement, her chief of staff, Mike Casca, said, "The Congresswoman appreciates the Committee finding that she made efforts to ensure her compliance with House Rules and sought to act consistently with her ethical requirements as a Member of the House. She accepts the ruling and will remedy the remaining amounts, as she's done at each step in this process."

The designer also lamented his woes to event sponsor Marc Jacobs.

Marc told the outlet, "He's very upset. Azzedine is a great friend of mine. I admire him so much… He's had a huge influence on the way women are shaped, the way women look. I do think he's one of the greatest influences. I'm really sad that he's not part of this exhibition."

She told Vogue, "I had my security take a video of me because my first reaction was just to get the hell out of there, and so, I'm running to my car. I'm literally just hauling ass to my car and then gonna put it online. I was saying this is my reaction after seeing my Met Gala photos."

Marc Jacobs also posted an Instagram picture of himself "smoking in the girls room" with Char Defrancesco, Courtney Love, and Frances Bean Cobain, which you can see here.

Discussing the look herself a few months later, Kim revealed that her corset was so tight that she could barely sit and had to take breathing lessons. She told the Wall Street Journal, "I have never felt pain like that in my life."

She continued, "Most notably, it perpetuates the narrative that you shouldn't wear clothes at your current size and that instead you should be changing your body. It perpetuates the narrative that thinner is 'better.' It perpetuates the narrative that you have to look a certain way in order to wear nice clothes, which is absolutely NOT true; you can wear nice clothes at ANY size."

Additionally, Riverdale actor Lili Reinhart called Kim's actions "so fucked on 100s of levels." On her Instagram story, she said, "The ignorance is other-worldly and disgusting. ... Please stop supporting these stupid, harmful celebrities whose entire image revolves around their bodies."

In response to criticism over her own statements, Lili tweeted, "I speak up because I don't see enough people with large platforms calling out toxic behavior in our industry."

Defending her weight loss, Kim told the New York Times, "To me it was like, 'OK, Christian Bale can do it for a movie role, and that is acceptable.' ... Even Renée Zellweger gained weight for a role. It’s all the same to me. I wasn’t saying, 'Hey everyone, why don’t you go lose this weight in a short period of time?'"

Additionally, in a statement, the Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum that allowed her to borrow it said, "One thing Ripley's Believe It or Not! can say with confidence is that it did not cause damage to Marilyn Monroe's famed 'Happy Birthday' dress from 1962. ... Kim Kardashian wearing the 'Happy Birthday' dress has been hotly contested, but the fact remains that she did not, in any way, damage the garment in the short amount of time it was worn at the Met Gala."

They also said the dress had some preexisting damage from around 2017 before Kim got her hands on it.
