If Dad expected a Bluetooth banana phone, he’s probably a mind reader.

As a Deputy Editorial Director for BuzzFeed’s shopping team, I love to get into the weeds of why a product’s worth the money by deep diving into customer reviews, and product-testing as much as possible.

Even the father figures who don't want anything still appreciate a thoughtful gift, whether it's something that verges more on a gag gift, like a Bluetooth-enabled banana phone (yes, I'm serious) or a useful gift like some EXCELLENT house slippers, we've got some great ideas for you. Just know that once you level up this Father's Day, you might be setting *such* a high standard for your gift-giving that you can't (banana) phone it in next year.

FYI, Goldbelly is an online marketplace where you can order (mostly) ready-to-eat food items from famous places around the US. This white chocolate coconut bundt cake comes from Doan's Bakery in Woodland Hills, California, and serves 12–16 people. It's freshly baked and shipped with dry ice so it's safe in transit before it lands on Dad's doorstep.

Promising review: "Excellent. Love them. Just like the old sour Altoids." —Michael

Promising review: "I love this couch so much. I have taken it to the lake several times this last summer. It takes a little practice to fan in enough air, but once you know what you’re doing, it takes no time at all to get it inflated enough. I have only used it on a daily basis and never overnight, but it seems to hold air well. It’s comfy and seems fairly durable, but I keep my dogs off of it just in case. It packs small and light. It’s super easy to use, and I love the color pattern. I get compliments on it from strangers every time." —Jocey

Promising review: "I brought this with me on a camping trip in the Colorado mountains. Once the hummingbirds discovered the feeder, they were around it constantly. After one day, they would come to the single-ring feeder held in our hands. It was so fun getting to see the hummingbirds up close." —Debbie B.

Promising review: "This bird feeder is simple and elegant in design. The birds love it and it is a beautiful piece of yard art as well. In the morning light and sunset it positively glimmers with color and light. Would make a wonderful and memorable gift for anyone who has an outdoor space or even just a balcony!" —Sky Clark

Made with a bamboo handle and powder-coated steel, it uses a simple lever system to made weeding easy. Grampa's Weeder is a small biz.

Promising review: "Oh my god, I friggin' love this tool. I bought this on a whim given we bought our first house and know nothing about caring for a yard. Boy has it come in handy. Our new house had a ton of weeds in the front yard and this tool helped me get most of them out in no time. In fact, the process of yanking out the weed was strangely satisfying! I don't think anyone can say that weeding is fun but this tool made it as close to fun as you can get, especially when you see a long root along with the weed you pulled." —JG

Promising review: "I got this for my birthday so that I could effectively take notes for a podcast I am working on and easily upload them to a cloud service that I have saved. I have a disability, and with that, it is a lot easier to deal with writing something down when you have one notebook as opposed to two or more. My favorite feature might be the fact that after I write something up, I can automatically send it to my email, iCloud, or many other various cloud services. I even bought a Rocketbook Core for my dad for his work. I would recommend this item for anyone who wants to keep the skill of writing but wants to make what they write digital." —Jordan Lowe

Get it from Amazon for $33.99+ (available in two colors and four types).

Promising review: "These are fabulous! Crunchy, buttery and slightly sweet perfection. Soooo good in the morning on the go with coffee or alongside yogurt and berries. These are trending right now for a reason, they are amazing!!!" —Amazon Customer

My colleague Chelsea Stuart owns and loves this: "I splurged on some AirPod Maxes and for the amount of money I threw down on them, I was determined to get as much use out of them as possible and that included on plane rides. With the AirFly Pro, I can connect my headphones via Bluetooth and use the seat-back screen without having to fiddle with the free wired headphones they hand out that 1.) have horrible sound quality and 2.) don't fit my ears in the slightest. (I swear my ear canals are tiny or something??)"

It also comes with a USB-C charging cable, travel pouch, keychain holder, quick-start guide, and a manual.

Twelve South is a small business that has been creating innovative tech accessories since 2009.

Promising review: "I was a little reluctant purchasing Airfly after reading the reviews, but I’m so glad I did! It worked perfectly on the plane, and while on my trip, I also used it to listen to music in the car. It acted like a speaker because I had no aux cable. It was great!" —Yamile cardozo

Promising review: "This was a fun plant. My kids enjoyed watching the leaves pull up and then spread back out. I even mailed one to a family member so they could try it out. I would buy this again!" —Nene582

My Critter Catcher is a small biz ensuring you have an easy and non-toxic way to rid your home of pests.

Promising review: "I love this thing. I live in a forest area and we got some mammoth spiders who like to come inside, especially in the fall. I've caught tons of those critters with this catcher. Sometimes it takes a minute and they escape, depending on the spider, but I have usually triumphed and escorted their little butts right out the door. It's also good for catching those big mosquitos. Highly recommend!" —Maggie T

Consider stocking up on a two-pack of refills for $19.99.

Promising review: "I recently added this plug to my outdoor string lights, and it’s such a simple but great upgrade. It was super easy to install, just plugged right into the lights. We love to host in the summer and frequently grill out and have fires, so having something attached right to the lights to help keep mosquitoes away without having to think about it has been great. Also, love the remote! I like that I can just turn it on when we actually need it and not have it running all the time or feel like it's being wasted when were not out there. Overall, it just makes hanging outside a lot more enjoyable without adding any extra effort." —Piper

Promising review: "I have used this board to take food to potlucks. I use it as a vegetable tray at home. Easy to clean. The cover works well when transporting to a friend's house or to picnics. Cover keeps bugs away at outdoor events." —Amazon Customer

Each kit should produce 1–1.5 pounds of fresh mushrooms and once you harvest them, you can spray and reuse the kit again, though each harvest after will be smaller.

I aspire to be someone who grows a bunch of indoor herbs, but about as far as I get is regrowing scallions (which make everything taste better and easily freeze!) on my windowsill in a glass of water. I've been wanting to try one of these kits for a while and waited until I knew I'd be home for a spell in case it required babysitting. It doesn't! This is the growth on my own kit after spraying it for about a week. It's funny because you saw basically nothing happening for a few days, and then it just started POPPING out of the kit. I'm not ready to forage for mushrooms in the wild (though my Aunt Lynn loves doing that!), but I'm cool with harvesting them from my kitchen.

I adore Rick Steves and love watching all of his European travel programs — which he's most known for — on YouTube. But this trip he took as a 23-year-old was transformative for him and, lucky for us, documented everything. I'm currently reading this and love how much it conveys his thrill, wonder, and excitement on such an adventure! There are also lots of visuals like maps, scans of his actual travel journal, and pics to really transport you into his memories.

Pole-R Bear is a small biz specializing in this product.

Promising review: "Super easy to put on an umbrella. I have one Tommy Bahama umbrella from Costco, and another large umbrella that we used in the center of our table. The hook fits both umbrellas very easily. We used it for a week at the beach. It did not slide down, and I felt it held quite a bit of weight. I have attached a picture of my beach bag with two towels, sunscreens, and various snacks in it. Another bag with water and sand toys. I am going to order another one!" —Amazon Customer

Promising review: "I finally gave up and bought a charging station for several devices. I travel a lot, and taking turns charging my iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch was annoying, especially if the room had a limited number of outlets and I was not the only one who needed to charge all of them ASAP — plus, hauling all of the cords. Ugh. Hooray, I'm hustle-free now. It comes with one fold-up station, one cord, and one nob for three devices that charge simultaneously.
