The White House gave Donald Trump a new regal title in a post on X on Tuesday, and immediately faced demands for his abdication.

The official White House account shared an image of Trump’s controversial attendance at Game 3 of the NBA Finals, where the New York Knicks suffered a defeat that some fans blamed on the president’s presence.

“King of New York,” it captioned the image.

The self-coronation didn’t go down well.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) responded with a video of Trump being booed at the game.

“CORRECTION: King of Getting Mercilessly Booed, Falling Asleep, and Leaving Early,” Schumer wrote, also referring to Trump’s apparent nodding off during the game.

The press office of New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) offered an even shorter royal review:

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO https://t.co/PV4NxdaLFc

Other social media users joined the rebellion, suggesting Trump should be deposed:

Why not post video? Ohhhh… right https://t.co/B0lT9MRbRI

Trump is such an insecure little child.

BOOOOO

Why no video of Don Snoreleone?

An entire arena was screaming at you because they hate you. Pretty sure you are not the king of New York.

Propaganda from the authoritarian regime. We all heard the boos and watched him fall asleep. He cares nothing about the game, he’s just showing up to ruin everyone else’s good time. Trump is the epitome of a killjoy. Stay home and tweet and let us enjoy what we have left…

He literally cursed the knicks
