It’s your soon-to-be new fave gadget calling you! I'm a Shopping editor (and mom to two toddlers) who covers a variety of topics, including helpful parenting/kids products, exciting gadgets, cozy products (think: home goods and fashions that'll make you want to snuggle), and any magical Disney item that crosses my path. *Raises hand* Hi, my name is Heather, and I have successfully made the big switch from a smartwatch to a smartring. And, to be honest, I'm not sure how I ever lived without one! It's amazing! Freeing! So, I've combed through the options and narrowed them down for *you* to four top contenders: Oura Ring 4, RingConn Gen 2, Samsung Galaxy Ring, and the Ultrahuman Ring Air. So, even if you're super picky when it comes to what you spend your hard-earned cash on, you're likely to find the perfect fit (literally) in one of these gadgets. Are you totally over wearing a chunky fitness watch and would genuinely appreciate a new piece of trendy jewelry? This little gadget will go above and beyond to provide you with all kinds of cool data about yourself — so prepare to be amazed. The Oura Ring 4 connects to your smartphone to help monitor your sleep, heart rate, and progress toward your fitness goals. I started wearing mine at the beginning of 2026 in an effort to kick my Apple Watch obsession and quickly became a fan. I love checking my sleep score (spoiler: I have two toddlers and my score is BAD) and keeping tabs on my stress levels throughout the day. My sisters and I have a "Circle" where we can each see our scores and chat about who slept the best/worst! It's started tracking trends for me like my blood pressure (which is important to me because I had severe preeclampsia in my second pregnancy) and has accurately alerted me when my body has shown signs of strain (aka when I've started to get sick). Heads up: The brand recommends buying the Oura sizing kit for $10 first to find the best size — but fear not, you'll get a $10 credit back for the purchase of an Oura ring! You *can* use the Oura ring without the subscription, but you'll be limited to only the basic features like your readiness, activity, and sleep scores. With the subscription, you're able to see your heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep stages, temperature trends, etc. Other things worth noting! If you have an American Express Platinum card, you can get a $200 credit toward an Oura Ring (which my sister did!) or you can use your HSA and FSA accounts to purchase it (which I'd only recommend doing at the end of the year with any remaining funds you haven't had to use for healthcare needs). BuzzFeed contributor Samar Hadri loves hers as well: "Introducing one of my favorite gadgets — the Oura Ring has pretty much not left my finger since I got it a few months ago. This ring is freaking fantastic! It tracks my heart rate, temperature (where was this during my fertility journey??), ~and~ sleep (and a whole lot more tbh). It uses biometrics to track my stress, how I'm feeling, and how much rest I'm *actually* getting at night. It even lets me know if my body is showing signs of illness, like a whole day before my first sniffles start! It doesn't feel bulky on my finger or annoying to wear, and the gold color is pretty and matches the rest of my jewelry perfectly, so it doesn't look out of place in my stack. After watching me use it for a few weeks, my husband went online and got himself one too, because frankly, it was just too convenient! Plus, the battery life is amazing. I only charge this, like, once every five or six days! The app even has an AI advisor that uses your info to give you suggestions based on your activity." Get it from Amazon for $349+ (available in metallic and ceramic styles). Psst: There is a NEW Oura Ring 5 out as well, but we haven't had a chance to fully review it just yet! It's the thinnest smartring on the market (which is very exciting) and sure to be incredible, but we couldn't give it a spot here yet because it's so new! If you've been putting off getting into the *~smartring game~* because they're too "clunky," then the RingConn Gen 2 Air might be the one for you! It's only 2mm thick, and the band width is 6.8mm (for comparison, the Oura Ring 4 is 7.9 mm). It's waterproof, holds a charge for 10 (!!!) days, and can return to a full charge in 90 minutes! It tracks sleep trends, daily activity, menstrual phases, and provides stress scores and patterns. The app also has an "AI Partner" you can ask questions to help you make informed health choices. And! You can use your HSA and FSA accounts to purchase it (which I'd only recommend at the end of the year, with any remaining funds you haven't used for healthcare needs). Promising reviews: "This ring is awesome! It tracks my sleep, exercise, steps, menstrual cycle, and even headaches. Charge quickly, you can use it for days without charging. I love that it’s waterproof, so I can wear it all the time without worrying about taking it off. The data is very helpful and easy to understand. I honestly can’t see myself without it now. Another big plus is that no membership is required, which makes it even better. The app is easy to understand, and the display is very clear and user-friendly. Highly recommend! 👍" —Vilma "I’ve been wearing the RingConn Air 2 for a couple of weeks now and also tested the Oura Ring (Gen 4) for comparison. While both are great for sleep and stress tracking, I ended up preferring the RingConn overall — mainly because of its look and app experience. The design is sleek and blends perfectly with my other jewelry and Apple Watch. It looks more like an actual ring than a piece of tech, which I really appreciate. The comfort and lightness are also huge pluses — I barely notice it’s there, even while sleeping. The app is super easy to use and gives clear insights into sleep, readiness, and stress levels without feeling overwhelming or overly technical. It syncs quickly, and I like that there’s no subscription required for access to full data. If you’re someone who wants accurate health tracking in a stylish, subtle form factor — and prefers a simpler, cleaner app experience — I’d definitely recommend the RingConn Air 2 over the Oura Ring." —James L Get it from Amazon for $199 (available in sizes 6–14 and two metals). Note: this ring will only pair with Android devices. Have you been on the hunt for a stylish smartring but been discouraged by the monthly subscriptions that most devices require? Let me introduce you to this beauty. The Samsung Galaxy Ring only requires you to buy the ring itself before giving you full access to stats like sleep metrics, stress-level tracking, menstrual cycle predictions, and so much more! Each morning, you'll receive an Energy Score that combines your sleep, heart rate, and activities from the day before, encouraging you to take on a certain level of challenges for the day ahead! Fun! You can also set up "gestures," for example, you can pinch your ring finger and your thumb together to take a photo with your phone. (COOL!) Promising reviews: "I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy Ring for a little while now, and honestly, I’m seriously impressed. The design is sleek, lightweight, and comfortable enough to wear all day and night without even noticing it’s there. It looks premium and feels much more practical than wearing a bulky smartwatch 24/7. The health tracking has been incredibly accurate so far — especially sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, and activity insights. I love waking up to a detailed sleep analysis that actually helps me understand my habits better. The battery life is another huge win; I can go several days without worrying about constantly charging it. Setting up with my Samsung phone was seamless, and the integration with Samsung Health is smooth and intuitive. Notifications and wellness insights feel genuinely useful instead of overwhelming. What surprised me most was how such a small device could deliver so much functionality while still looking stylish. It blends technology and comfort perfectly. If you’re looking for a smart wearable that’s discreet, elegant, and packed with useful health features, the Samsung Galaxy Ring is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!" —BiggyA Get it from Best Buy for $399.99 (available in sizes 5–13 and three styles). Behold! A gorgeous accessory that won't feel bulky (it weighs about as much as a penny) and will help you track all kinds of health-related data without feeling like a burden. The Ultrahuman Ring Air is great for monitoring things like heart rate, HRV< skin temperature, sleep metrics, movement and workouts, and more! While this gadget doesn't have an overall subscription plan like some of its competitors, it does have optional "PowerPlug" add-ons with yearly subscription options to customize your data experience. There's a Cardio Adaptibility PowerPlug ($24/year), designed for anyone looking for a bit more info on their heart health and efficiency (kindaaaaa important!). The other option is a Cycle & Ovulation Plus PowerPlug ($39.99/year), for women who are trying to conceive (OR NOT!) or basically, anyone trying to get a handle on what their cycle looks like (not such an easy task if you're not on a form of birth control, IMO). Promising review: "I've been wearing the Ultrahuman Ring Air for a while now, and I have to say it has completely changed the way I think about my health data. This has to be the best thing to exist for sleep and recovery data. It's incredibly lightweight and slim, and I honestly forget I'm even wearing it, which is crucial for a device you wear 24/7 and especially at night. It's so much more discrete and comfortable than a bulky smartwatch. The data it provides is fantastic. The best part is the sleep tracking and recovery insights. For me, seeing my sleep score and recovery metrics every morning has actually helped me stay active and make good choices to stay on track." —mushfikm1_6904 Get it from Ultrahuman for $349+ (available in sizes 5–14, in six styles, and with or without custom engraving).
