Sy Ray, a digital forensics expert, told NewsNation's Brian Entin he believes Kohberger stalked Mogen and was in the University of Idaho student's home before the killings. Kohberger pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty in the 2022 murders of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20. Kohberger may have targeted Idaho students because they were women As Kohberger now attempts to withdraw his guilty plea and reopen the case, these revelations could come up in court. Ray has access to cellphone data not publicly seen, and according to that data, Mogen and Kohberger were in the same place multiple times, Entin reported. That includes an A&W restaurant and an apartment next door to Kohberger's in Pullman, Washington, a nearby town to Moscow, Idaho. Ray also believes Kohberger was stalking the house where Mogen, Goncalves and Kernodle lived. The house is on a dead-end street on a hill — the "strangest location for a house," Entin reported. "There's no way you would just drive by the house. It makes zero sense." Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
