Jon Ossoff Reveals His Level Of Interest In Running For President ― And Hmmmm

Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) appeared to elevate his profile by cracking wise about President Donald Trump’s relationship with his much younger White House aide Natalie Harp. Ossoff has also fiercely criticized the president on other fronts as he aims to fend off a senatorial challenge from Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) in November. On Monday, MS NOW’s Jen Psaki figured it was as good a time as any to ask Ossoff about his presidential aspirations in 2028. The query arrived in roundabout fashion. She noted that Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) “was asked by Politico about the potential for an Ossoff-Kelly ticket in 2028 and his response to that question was, ‘Hey, why’d you put it in that order?’” Psaki asked, “I’d pose to you the same question: How do you feel about a Kelly-Ossoff ticket in 2028?” Ossoff replied, “Jen, let me reiterate. I have zero interest in running for president in 2028, and frankly, zero interest in the 2028 fantasy football right now. And I would note that Senator Kelly is going to be here in Georgia tomorrow campaigning alongside me, because he also recognizes that these midterms are the whole ballgame.” The “right now” kicker kinda leaves the door open, doesn’t it? At this moment, however, the Georgia senator isn’t really making a dent in Democratic polling for 2028, according to a New York Times aggregation of recent surveys. Ossoff continued to make his point to Psaki about the importance of what happens this November. “So with all due respect — and I appreciate and respect and understand why there’s interest and punditry in a presidential election several years away ― I don’t know that we have a free and fair election in 2028 unless we restore checks and balances in these 2026 midterm elections,” he added. “This needs to be all of our highest priority and our focus. Get involved. Pitch in money. Sign up to knock doors. Sign up to make phone calls. If you’re feeling angst and outrage at what’s happening to our country, take action.” Ossoff emphasized that the showdown wasn’t so far away. “Because here in Georgia, early voting opens in eight weeks,” he said. “Before we know it, we’re going to be looking at the results coming in on election night. Let’s leave it all on the field, have no regrets, and win a decisive victory this fall.” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
