If you’re looking to use the last of those energy reserves before hibernation,

Who doesn't love a free event? This summer, Canada Water has been home to the floating stage and accompanying food stalls and entertainment that is Round The Dock. With live music and poetry five days a week, film screenings on the water, and weekend markets to peruse, there's plenty going on.

On Saturday the 22nd, Black Eats LDN will be taking over, a leading platform that champions Black-owned food businesses, culture, and community across London, so if you want some delicious food this weekend, it's a no-brainer.

The dock has also partnered with Hot Milk for a brand-new dessert: Trash Pie: Pudding, Pie Crust, Mash-mellow, Jellied Sweet Eels, Seaweed Sprinkles and ‘Liquor’ (pistachio sauce). The first 100 attendees will grab themselves a free pudding!

Coming to the dock on Saturday the 29th will be the Independent Label x N4 Makers Markets, where independent vendors, record labels, artists, designer-makers, and creative businesses will be there selling their wares.

If you're into your zines then don't miss PageMasters' biggest fair of the year. Hosting over 40 publishers' tables and many, many more titles on the communal table, it's a great opportunity to explore a wide array of zines and connect with the creators behind them.

If independent publishing is of interest to you, or you just fancy finding some new material, get yourself to the South London Gallery on the 29th or the 30th of August!

You've probably heard of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but if you're in London during August and fancy experiencing the joy of live comedy, theatre, music, opera, improv, dance, and more, then check out the Camden Fringe.

Taking part in 39 different venues, the Camden Fringe is dedicated to showcasing the best of North London's small venues and providing performances of new shows and material that's actually affordable, with "many shows cost less than a pint and only a few cost more than two!"

As the skies (finally) seem to be greying over, the end of August may be the perfect time to check out what's new to the world of performance in one of North London's many brilliant live venues. The Fringe is running until the 30th of August, check out what's on here.

Drinking wine in the park is as cool now as it was when I was a teenager (very). And if you like your vino then you can taste over 100 selections (responsibly) at the South London Wine Fair on Saturday the 22nd of August.

Located at the renovated Crystal Palace Bowl's 'laptop' stage, over 20 exhibitors will be presenting wines from all over the world from classic styles to natural wine, so there's something for everyone, providing you like wine.

Upon arrival you receive a glass and a wristband that allows you to sample any wine, so if you fancy a journey into wines in Crystal Palace this weekend, check it out here.

The renowned celebration and display of the world's best of photojournalism and documentary photography is returning to London. The photographs on display show more than just a still image, but a visual artifact captured from some of the globe's most significant events and issues.

The winners of the 2026 World Press Photo Contest have now been announced, and from from 21 August to 30 September 2026, you'll be able to see why and how they won right here in London.

Bank holiday weekend at the end of August in London means one thing: Notting Hill Carnival. Europe's biggest street festival celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, and if you're keen for dancing, food, sound systems, parades, and a whole lot of energy, there's truly nowhere else to be.

The festival that celebrates Caribbean culture will play host to well over a million people across the 30th and 31st of August, with sound systems, stages, parades, and food stalls spread out across Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove in West London. You can check out the full schedule, along with useful travel info here.

While everyone is at Carnival, if that's not your thing then you can always take yourself over to Henry VIII's former abode for a celebration of food and drink in the spectacular building and surrounding gardens.

With activities for all the family, over 150 independent food and drinks producers, and live cooking demonstrations from talented chefs in the Regina Kitchen, you could easily fill a whole day out here.

The festival will be held from 29 - 31 August, members go free and tickets will also give you access to the palace and gardens.
