Ariana Grande Delivers Blunt Response After 'Team Trump' Pulls Familiar Stunt

Ariana Grande had a blunt message for the president after Donald Trump’s team used her music in an anti-trans post. In a clip shared by Team Trump on TikTok Thursday, a video shows Trump walking on stage while Grande’s hit single “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” plays. “Me and my truth we sit in silence,” says the text in the video, which is also a line from Grande’s song. The text then reads: “Men can’t have babies and should never compete in women’s sports.” Grande responded in the comments the same day the video was posted. “Never use my music again,” the “Petal” singer said in a comment that appears to have been deleted or hidden. “Also, your truth is false.” While the video is still up, Grande’s music was removed from the clip. The video now reads “This sound isn’t available.” Grande is no stranger to going toe-to-toe with Trump, as she recently called out the administration this summer for using another of her songs. The White House posted an Immigration and Customs Enforcement propaganda video back in June, with the audio of Grande’s song “Bye.” “Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense. Fuck ICE,” Grande said. White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson responded to Grande’s comments in a statement shared with HuffPost. “We’ll say this one last time: what’s actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens,” Jackson said at the time. HuffPost has reached out to Grande’s team. The White House declined to further comment. Many singers ― including the Rolling Stones, Rihanna, Adele, Black Sabbath and Sabrina Carpenter, to name a few ― have hit out at Trump for the unauthorized use of their music in videos used to push the president’s agenda on social media.
