These pads are giving my skin that fresh, just-had-a-facial look without requiring multiple products.

What makes these exfoliating pads so unique? Unlike many similar products that rely on a single acid to remove buildup from the outermost layer of your skin, these combine both glycolic acid and salicylic acid for a more comprehensive approach. Glycolic acid works on the skin’s surface to dissolve dead skin cells that can leave the complexion looking dull, while salicylic acid penetrates deeper into pores to help loosen excess oil and buildup. Together, they tackle everything from rough texture and clogged pores to uneven tone, giving my skin that fresh, just-had-a-facial look without requiring multiple products.

Barefaced makes three types of toning pads: the toning and exfoliating pads that I use, which are a great “starter pad” for those new to chemical exfoliation. These are ideal for dry, sensitive skin types (hi, that’s me) and keep breakouts in check while smoothing out texture sans irritation. The brand’s Toning Pads II are essentially the leveled-up version of the ones I use — they’re made with 5% glycolic acid (versus 2% in the original formula) and are perfect for oily skin types and those wanting to fade post-acne marks or pigmentation faster. Finally, the Polishing Pads are oversized for head-to-toe exfoliation. These are designed for anyone looking to fade dark spots or smooth out rough, bumpy skin on the face and body (like keratosis pilaris).

I also appreciate how thoughtfully these pads are designed. Each one features a small divot, which makes grabbing a single pad surprisingly easy — a small touch that eliminates the frustration of accidentally pulling out multiple pads at once. They’re also pre-soaked with the perfect amount of product, so I can simply swipe one across my face after cleansing, let the formula absorb and continue with the rest of my routine.
