The opposite worlds of the American working class and the British Royal family collided Wednesday in a moving tribute to Dolly Parton.

In the grounds of Buckingham Palace, the band of the Coldstream Guards, the military regiment in which King Charles serves as colonel-in-chief, played an instrumental version of “9 to 5” in honor of the late singer. (Watch video below.)

The 1980 hit, an ode to working class culture, was performed during the changing of the guard military ceremony as scores of tourists gathered in front of the royal residence in London.

The tribute speaks to how even the British establishment has been charmed by the daughter of an east Tennessee sharecropper, who grew up in the abject poverty, during her sparkling career.

The country music icon died Tuesday at the age of 80, her family announced in a video posted on her Instagram.

“Remembering the late, great Dolly, who brought joy, comfort and inspiration to so many — including the millions of children given free books through her Imagination Library,” King Charles and Queen Camilla posted on social media with a video of the performance.

“We will always ❤️ you,” they added, in a nod to another one of Dolly’s hits.

Parton’s Imagination Library has donated more than 300 million books to U.S. children under the age of 5 since 1995.

Her autobiographical 1971 song “Coat of Many Colors” essays growing up poor as one of 12 siblings, with a motif about how her mother stitched together a coat for her out of rags given to the family.

“Now I know we had no money, but I was rich as I could be; In my coat of many colors my momma made for me,” she writes in the lyrics.
