Ana Navarro Seals Clapback At Scott Jennings And GOP Wonk With Zesty One-Liner

Ana Navarro capped a comeback at GOP pundits Scott Jennings and Brad Todd on CNN with a one-liner about Donald Trump’s speech at the United Nations. (Watch the video below.) The president’s lie- and grievance-packed address featured another threat to “annihilate” Iran in a war he started. But what got the “NewsNight” panelists exercised at one point was Trump’s crowing about the deal he made with Denmark to expand the U.S. security presence in Greenland. Trump had bullied traditional ally Denmark by threatening to seize the territory if Denmark didn’t surrender it to the U.S. His menacing words seemed to drive a wedge between the U.S. and other European allies as well. Jennings framed the development as a diplomatic triumph and decried the “hysteria” around Trump’s maneuvering on Greenland and his prolonged war against Iran. Todd claimed that Trump had actually strengthened NATO’s alliance. Jennings praised Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen for her “forward-leaning” remarks on the pact. But Navarro, who’s also a co-host on “The View,” took another view. She facetiously told Jennings he deserved an award for “his incredible pivot” on the discussion of Trump’s “insane speech.” “By the way, he sounded like low-energy Jeb while giving it, and turning it into the speech about the Danish,” she said of the president, echoing an insult that Trump used about GOP primary opponent Jeb Bush in the 2016 race. Todd took umbrage. “What are you talking about?” he said. “You only want to talk about the parts you don’t like. You can’t give him credit for anything. But give him credit for something.” Navarro instead slammed the president for his handling of Denmark and Greenland. “I don’t think threatening allies...” she started to say before Todd interjected. “Can you give him credit on any one thing?” Todd shot back. “He stayed awake,” she replied. “Which is a first.” “Close my case,” Todd stated. Fill-in host Sara Sidner laughed as she cut away from the segment.
