Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens — the husband of Olympic gymnastics legend Simone Biles — held onto the ball bag while in Milan to watch the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Owens, who has been spotted watching various Milan Cortina 2026 events with Biles, revealed on X that he thwarted an attempted bag snatch while shopping in the Italian city.

“Not somebody just tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan,” he wrote. “Force of habit I had it tied around my hand so he couldn’t get it and took off running immediately….but still crazy.”

In follow-up replies, Owens said it was “hilarious how slow” the would-be thief “started running away once he saw he couldn’t grab it out of my hand.”

The man’s arms “were moving faster than his legs,” Owens added. “Should’ve seen his face once he realized i turned around and he couldn’t grab it.”

Owens said he’d been “prepared,” having “seen too many TikTok’s” about similar incidents — and made sure there was “no way he could get it off my hand.”
