Canadian Prime Minister Trolls Trump With Perfectly Timed ‘Conspiracy’ Crack

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney suffered a tech glitch during a speech on Wednesday ― then turned it into a crack about President Donald Trump. “I would now like to inform you that the teleprompter has ceased to function,” he said. “Unlike a certain world leader, I do not view this as a conspiracy.” The audience laughed. PM Carney trolls Donald Trump: "I would like to inform you that the teleprompter has ceased to function. Unlike a certain world leader, I do not view this as a conspiracy." pic.twitter.com/8cwxk5igpb Last year, Trump became enraged at a trio of malfunctions before and during his United Nations speech: a stalled escalator, audio glitches, and ― as Carney noted ― a teleprompter failure. “Not one, not two, but three very sinister events!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.” He also demanded an “immediate investigation.” Canada had long been a strong U.S. ally, but Trump has single-handedly changed that. He has ignited a trade war, which includes a 50% tariff on nearly all Canadian goods, and threatened even further action because smoke from Canada’s wildfires entered the United States. Trump has frequently launched verbal attacks against Canada and its leaders. “Canada’s nasty, they are, they’re nasty,” Trump said on Wednesday. “I love the people, but they’re nasty. Nasty leadership.” He has also repeatedly called the prime minister the “governor” of America’s “51st state.” Carney has pushed back, politely, and even received a huge ovation in Davos for a speech urging “middle powers” to stand up to the United States.
