From a music festival in the desert to looking for turtles in the ocean – this could be you this winter. If you're really not ready to let go of summer, and fancy a warm weather excursion where you can also get that festival feeling back, then Khoroum Valley is the place to be this November. What better way to rediscover that summer sensation than by heading to Zamna festival? That's right, the global electronic music and cultural event that originated in the jungles of Tulum, Mexico, is, for the second time, finding it's home in a natural sandstone amphitheater, hidden in the mountains of South Sinai, Egypt. Across three night, from the 20–22 of November, the festival takes over one of the most scenic event locations you can find. Amongst the striking rock formations of Khoroum Valley, stages take over for three days of desert sunshine and delectable sounds. Confirmed artists include: Asal b2b Brina Knauss, CamelPhat, Elvis Guetta, Gordo, Korolova, Major League DJZ, and so many more. You can check it out here. November is actually one of the best times to visit Sharm El Sheikh, with daytime temperatures in the mid-to-high twenties and sunny, with evenings manageably cooler than the scorching summer months. To get the true summer experience, there aren't many better locales this November. While you're not in the valley dancing the night away, you can be relaxing on golden sand beaches and soaking up the sun by the clear blue water. Water sports, snorkeling, and dolphin spotting are all available to really make the most of the warm weather. With a flight time of under six hours, and with affordable airlines available, Khoroum Valley and Sharm El Sheikh might be your best option to turn winter into summer. If you fancy a European retreat in December or Jan, but don't want it to be skiing or freezing, then it might be time to check out Tenerife. When I say Tenerife, you may think all inclusive resorts with sandy beaches and dry sunny weather, as found in the major tourist hubs such as Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, and Los Cristianos. And if that's what you fancy, then there are few better places around that type of year. However, that's not all that Tenerife has to offer. If you want something a bit different, and somewhere with a more varied landscape and less of the resort-focused holidays, then the North side of the island may be fore you. You can visit the UNESCO World Heritage town of San Cristóbal de La Laguna with its colourful pedestrianised streets and 16th century architecture. Unlike southern Tenerife's more arid landscape, the north is more lush, dotted with natural sea pools, verdant valleys to hike through, and plush gorge's to explore. Highlights include Anaga Rural Park and Teide National Park. But, thankfully, still boasts 20s temperatures in January, It's an affordable, under five hour flight away if you fancy some a nature-packed adventure this winter that won't leave your fingers and toes numb to the bone. For more of a city break, without having to shelter from the cold in a cafe half the time, Marrakesh may be the move. If you want to visit beautiful, culturally rich city without having to travel for hours and hours, Marrakesh can give you everything you want. In fact, with bright sunshine all day and temperatures ranging throughout the 20s (depending on which winter month you choose to go), the bustling city may actually be better to visit in the cooler, more manageable months. For a long weekend, Marrakesh will certainly keep you occupied. With the vibrant and historic Medina, with its meandering high-walled passageways, it's a very easy place to get lost – in both the vibe and also just completely lost. You can shop for crafts, spices, and all sorts of items at the souks, take a look around the famous Ben Youssef Madrasa and Jemaa el-Fnaa square, too. After fully immersing yourself in the hustle and bustle (to put it lightly), Marrakesh is also a place to relax. With traditional Moroccan hammam and spa treatments available all around the city, and the option of visiting ornate palaces and gardens the city has to offer, it's a great option for a winter city escape in under a four hour flight and without breaking the bank. For a more extravagant venture, where you can experience lush, diverse landscape, Cape Verde is one to add to your list. Around a six hour flight away lies the relatively more obscure travel destination of Cape Verde. Consisting of ten volcanic islands offering a wide range of activities and landscapes, there is plenty to do. From hiking in the walking paradise of Santo Antão – the most luscious of the islands, to the more resort and water sports-focused Sal, with golden sands of Santa Maria Pier, the warm waters of Pedra do Lume. For nature lovers there's excellent diving and spots, and the island of Boa Vista is also home to the seasonal nesting sites for loggerhead turtles. From the cultural hub of São Vicente with its focus on celebrating local music and art, to the island that boasts an active volcano – Pico do Fogo, famed for its coffee and wine grown and produced in the rich volcanic soil, there is plenty to do across Cape Verde. And with hight-of-winter temperatures staying in the mid 20s, if you fancy a adventure this winter, it may be for you.
