Fox News Reporter Scolds Trump For 'Retaliation,' Schools Him On 'Public's Right'

Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich on Wednesday accused President Donald Trump’s administration of vengefully denying access to a journalist from another news outlet. The White House reportedly yanked the Independent’s Andrew Feinberg from his pool reporting assignment to cover the president in Iowa Thursday after a tense exchange with Trump on Tuesday. Heinrich, the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, firmly condemned the move as “retaliation.” “The White House Correspondents’ Association strongly objects to the decision to restrict a journalist’s coverage simply because the president didn’t care for their questioning,” the Fox News senior White House correspondent wrote on X. “That is retaliation. The American public’s right to an independent press depends on reporters being able to do their jobs without fear that challenging the president will cut off their access.” On Tuesday, Feinberg drew Trump’s ire when he asked about the president’s golf courses. Trump growled at him to be “quiet.” “What’s wrong with you? Are you a sick person?” the president snapped. “Not that I know of, sir,” Feinberg replied. “I actually think there’s something wrong with you,” Trump said. Heinrich previously said the administration violated the First \ when it attempted to ban MS NOW, Politico and CNN from the White House and she urged officials to restore their access. Trump’s belittling of reporters and denying access took a disturbing turn recently with reports that he’s considered closing the White House briefing room and turning it into an indoor swimming pool. That would effectively evict reporters from the premises.
